My name is Aya Muse Kusumoto. I am a interdisciplinary designer who is interested in visual systems and mediums that span aesthetics and themes. In my work, from start to finish, I try to produce original content along the way. From primary research like interviews to photography on site, I enjoy mixing original content with my designs to ensure that the tone of the work stays true to each project. I have a passion for projects that surround community. Spaces where intersections of different people can interact and share ideas are contemporary treasures. This interest in community has expanded my ability to make well-informed design choices for the good of the user.
Other than that, the core of my creative process revolves around craft and play. I try to balance digital creation and handcrafted material; grounding my designs in the real allows them to operate as art and functional objects. Finally, I try to have fun while creating, and if anything, make people smile along the way :)
I won’t lie, if not hunched over my computer you can find me eating and exploring local eateries! Because I was born in New Mexico and raised in Jacksonville FL, you could say I have a taste for both breakfast burritos with Hatch green chile and fried green tomatoes. Aside from eating (lol), I may be playing a pickup game of beach volleyball or binging re-runs of Survivor.
